An in-holding within the Forest Service, this 155-acre dude ranch encompass the North Fork of the Duchesne River, exquisite beauty with the majestic Uintas and the Grandaddy Lakes as neighbors. Stone Face watches as you come and go, and the Aspen Heart sets off the mountain with the coming of winter. The sounds of the River as she rises and falls in Spring to Fall lulls any spirit into a peaceful existence.
The Defa Dude Ranch is owned and operated by the Defa Family. It has been in operation since the early 1940s. Open during the summer months, horseback riding, camping, hiking and fishing are the primary recreational opportunities. The Ranch has 55+ ground leases for private vacation cabins which are scattered throughout the property. Improvements include a 1950s style cafe, cowboy bar and dance hall, 18 rental cabins, a 17-stall RV park, horse stables, two shower facilities buildings, outdoor picnic pavilion, and maintenace buildings. Electricity is provided by Moon Lake Electric, Qwest provides landline phone service, propane is used, septic systems are used and water is derived from water wells.
